ABOUT US

Lisa Sweet has lived in Contra Costa County for over 30 years. She worked for the county in Health Services as a Registered Nurse and with Children and Family Services (CPS) as a Liaison for adoptive and foster families. Lisa and her family have also served as a Licensed Foster Family in Contra Costa County.  Seeing the needs of these families Lisa opened Sweet Beginnings Women’s Resource Center in 2013.  Many of  the young women we serve are struggling, have no family to assist them and are not involved with the father of their children. We also serve women who are married and have one employed family member , foster parents, and  relative care providers. Sweet Beginnings Family Resource Center evolved out of a need to provide prevention instead of responding to a crisis. Sweet Beginnings Family Resource Center is located in Martinez California. We are a diaper bank and we also provide feminine hygiene products both directly to clients and through Community Partners. We are distributing over 15,000 diapers a month and are being asked for more.  Our services, assist our most vulnerable population. We are a 100 percent volunteer run program, including Lisa who still actively works as an RN. Please contact us if you are interested in becoming a community partner.
